Collaboration is essential for conservation to succeed with maximum benefit for people and planet. IUCN focuses on getting diverse perspectives and expertise into the same room with decision makers and those impacted by their decisions to ensure the decisions and actions taken work for nature and the people who depend on it. Our largest events are the quadrennial IUCN World Conservation Congress and the annual IUCN Leaders Forum. IUCN also participates in and organises numerous other local, national, regional and international events.

IUCN Leaders Forum

The IUCN Leaders Forum series convenes global leaders from national and subnational governments, corporate executives, heads of international organisations, indigenous and youth leaders to discuss hard-to-solve issues around nature and climate. The Leaders Forum focuses on priorities of the international agenda, in particular the global goals and targets agreed at COP15 in Montreal (December 2022).

The events include a strong networking component and “by invitation only” meetings, in addition to the Leaders Dialogues. This enables leaders in their respective capacities to discuss road maps, propose concrete actions, establish coalitions, and make informed decisions. With cross-cutting design and varied stakeholders, IUCN Leaders Forum events foster a unique platform for debate and consensus-building.
