Spain is a biodiversity hotspot that hosts small rear-edge populations of species typical of central and northern Europe, Mediterranean and Macaronesian biota, many marine species, and a large set of endemic organisms. Spain Species Specialist Group (EsSSG) is a science-based network of volunteer experts belonging to universities, scientific and conservation associations, the SSC Centre for Species Survival Macaronesia, the Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), and the Spanish National Committee of IUCN (CeUICN), all of them working together toward conserving nature through providing scientific knowledge, conservation expertise, and positive action to both prevent the loss and aid recovery of the diversity of life on the land, freshwaters, and marine waters under the jurisdiction of the Spanish State. The CeUICN is its host institution.

My professional career is developed in both International Cooperation and development and Conservation Biology sectors. I have performed many surveys, environmental impact assessments, strategic plans and short and long terms action plans in national and international conservation projects, as well as many census of threatened species. My last works have been focused on management of both international projects and programmes about conservation and sustainable development. I am interested in opening line of works to, from the Conservation Biology framework, contribute to the sustainable development and improve the livelihood of rural communities within natural areas in developing countries. My PhD Thesis was about Biology and Conservation of the Iberian Black Stork population (Ciconia nigra), with references to black stork conservation in the Sahel region. The PhD was held at Complutense University of Madrid.
