For this quadrennium, our planned and ongoing conservation targets will foster an increase in networking, exchange of ideas and attention to conservation issues concerning herons, egrets and bitterns of the world.
Specialist Group work
Its overarching goal is to facilitate planning and on-the-ground conservation. It works especially through facilitating communication and exchange among those interested in herons and their conservation, as well as with a wider audience concerned with multispecies, regional habitat conservation planning and action that affect herons.

HSG assesses the conservation status of herons on a population basis.
