Securing Asian Flyways: Ecological perspective, knowledge sharing and management

What have we learned from a generation of flyway frameworks designed to promote international cooperation to save migratory birds? What lessons can be learned from the variety of approaches developed under these different initiatives? What are the key successes and challenges to effective implementation. How can we strengthen and measure connectivity along flyways? As CMS develops its Flyways program and supports a new initiative for the Central Asian Flyway, these are pertinent and timely questions. Speakers at this side event will present the results of recent discussions among flyway initiatives, discuss connectivity for long-distance migratory birds, and introduce the IUCN Green List as a tool for connecting sites. A short panel of experts will give their opinions following the presentations.
