Australasia Regional Group

OSG Australasia

Welcome to the OSG Australasia. This group comprises scientists, practitioners, growers with a conservation interest, government and industry.

In keeping with the objectives of the OSG, the Australasian group provides technical support and encouragement for the development and execution of programmes to study, document, save, restore and manage orchids and their habitats.

Australian Orchid Conservation Workshop

We are proposing to hold a workshop on Australian orchid conservation in late 2014 or early 2015.

The workshop aims to bring together conservation professionals in a two to three day forum with themes based on:

  • In situ conservation
  • Seed banking
  • Propagation approaches
  • Effective translocations
  • Pollination biology
  • Mycorrhizal ecology
  • Management of orchid habitats including fire
  • Citizens science including demographic studies
  • Linking growers and scientists
