WORKSHOP: Leaders for Nature: a global network for joint action between business and conservation organizations
22 June 2012 | Event
You may say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will be as one. Imagine, by John Lennon. Now imagine a world perfectly balanced between people, planet and profit: a true green economy. This workshop is about bringing people, organizations, businesses, scientists, and NGOs together to shape a new way forward.

IUCN’s Leaders for Nature has enabled the development of action plans by companies on global biodiversity and ecosystems. In the upcoming years this will be turned into long-term commitment and cooperation between companies, IUCN and its Members. This transition will enable a green economy based on the value of biodiversity, new alliances, knowledge and co-creation.
During the interactive workshop we will present examples from various countries and continents in working together with the private sector to achieve biodiversity conservation goals. Central questions addressed in this workshop include: what has been done, what has worked and what we have learned. Following these questions will be a discussion with participants on how to move to action. Building on the knowledge and experience of the audience, a plan of action to make a tangible contribution to a green economy will be developed.
Linking existing business and biodiversity initiatives will create a true global platform for interaction between conservation and business. The presenters from IUCN, Member and business sectors will, together with the audience, develop a plan of action to move forward. Bringing together organizations, businesses, scientists, and NGOs will give nature a big plus!
This event is organized by IUCN Netherlands in partnership with the Commission on Ecosystem Management, IUCN France, IUCN India, IUCN Regional Office for Europe and IUCN Asia Regional Office.
