Sarawak Forestry Corporation Sdn Bhd

Sarawak Forestry is wholly owned by the Sarawak State Government and was established to position Sarawak at the forefront of sustainable forest management and conservation. Its profile of activities comprise the establishment of Totally Protected Areas such as national parks, nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries. Currently the State of Sarawak has put aside about 5% of the state`s land as Totally Protected Areas and aims to esablish more areas as TPAs, to cover 10% of the state area, using IUCN Guidelines for protected areas. The corporation also carries out biodiversity conservation, conservation education and timber harvesting activities, among other things. The corporation plans to enhance conservation education programmes, focussing on all levels of society and to establish smart alliances with re-known institutions on conservation education to gain and share experiences in the field of conservation education.
