The training was organized in a joint effort of IUCN Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (IUCN ECARO), GIZ-Open Regional Fund for South-East Europe - Biodiversity project (ORF BD), delivered by GIZ`s global project “ValuES: Methods for integrating ecosystem services into policy, planning and practice”.  

The training was an opportunity to communicate the training results to the colleagues in the sector of environment, but also beyond, like finance sector, parliamentary groups etc. The participants gained knowledge on the processes needed to enable changes in policy, planning and practice through introduction of ecosystem services assessment and valuation.

The evaluation of the training by the participants showed that their expectations were fully met, and that it was a great follow up of the first regional training held in summer 2016 in Albania. The training series focusing on various aspects of the topic shall follow throughout 2017, with an aim to further increase the capacity and improve cross-sectoral and regional cooperation. 

The second regional training is a part of the IUCN project “Towards Strengthened Conservation Planning in South-Eastern Europe”, funded by MAVA Foundation and the ORF BD project “Ecosystem Services Assessment and Valuation (ESAV) for future course of action in South-East Europe (SEE)’’ funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
