The Western Gray Whale Advisory Panel (WGWAP) holds at least one full meeting each calendar year. The meetings are attended by the full Panel, representatives from Sakhalin Energy and scientists under contract with the company, as well as observers from environmental NGOs, international financial institutions, government authorities and others.
At each meeting, the Panel reviews a number of technical documents relating to research and monitoring activities, ongoing conservation efforts and mitigation and management efforts relating to the company's operations.
The report of the Panel at each meeting includes a number of recommendations and other advice concerning future research priorities and management and mitigation measures to enhance protection of the whales. The recommendations are compiled into a searchable database. Click here to see it.
