    IUCN prepares for a new wave of ‘Green List’ conservation success

    On the third anniversary of the IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 and the ‘Promise of Sydney’ commitments, the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas (the IUCN Green List) has achieved an important milestone. The IUCN Council – the principal governing body for the Union – has formally approved the IUCN Green List Standard and mandated its further implementation by IUCN and members, worldwide.

    PANORAMA-Solutions for a Healthy Planet launches new "Agriculture and Biodiversity" theme at UNFCCC COP23

     

    The initiative “PANORAMA – Solutions for a Healthy Planet” presented its vision and functions in a side event at COP23 in Bonn, Germany.  With more than 90 attendees, "PANORAMA" launched a new thematic community on “Agriculture and Biodiversity”. The global partnership initiative features an innovative knowledge sharing approach in nature conservation and sustainable development linking practitioners across sectors and regions.

    Global shift in Marine Protected Area analysis and reporting

    The UN Environment World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and IUCN have launched the Marine Protected Planet Interactive - the world’s most authoritative and ambitious platform for information about ocean protection. As of September 2017, Marine Protected Areas cover 6.35% of the ocean.
