Dear IUCN Members,

As IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature), we have an enormous responsibility. Since 1948, we have been the global authority keeping our finger on the pulse of biodiversity.

This side event will look at where and how fisheries can fit in the Post-2020 GBF to meaningfully contribute to the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity. Furthermore, it will shed some initial light on the challenge of fisheries reporting against the Post-2020 Targets. 

The BIODEV2030 project, launched in early 2020 supports the country's development ambition, while promoting the adoption of voluntary sectoral commitments that incorporate ambitious biodiversity conservation and restoration measures.

IUCN welcomes with relief and gratitude the negotiated decisions on fishing subsidies made yesterday by the world’s Trade Ministers at the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) MC12 Trade Ministers’ forum.
