The Office of the Hungarian Parliamentary Commissioner for Future Generations organized the workshop “Learning to Change for Sustainability” on 19 October 2011 together with the Education for Sustainability Roundtable of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Hungarian Parliament, the Corvinus University and the IUCN Commission on Education and Communication (CEC).
The leaders of the IUCN CEC held their annual meeting on 16-18 October in Vác, at the Göncöl Ház. After this session the experts were invited by the Office of the Future Generations’ Ombudsman to join the workshop ”Learning to Change for Sustainability”. The primary aim of the event was to initiate and strengthen the dialogue between the Hungarian experts and the international members of IUCN CEC and direct attention to education for sustainability.
More than 60 experts participated at the workshop representing the organizers, NGOs, schools, universities, education organizers, as well as national parks and forestries.
The workshop was opened by Benedek Jávor, the Chairman of the Sustainable Development Committee of the Hungarian Parliament and Sándor Fülöp, the Hungarian Parliamentary Commissioner for Future Generations.
Further lectures were delivered by Keith Wheeler, the Chairman of IUCN CEC, and Katalin Czippán, Deputy Head of the Strategy and Research Department at the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Future Generations.
