Mainstreaming Sustainable Land Management Practices
Rewarding ecosystems, rewarding people
Jordan was selected to implement a six-year-project, aiming at demonstrating and scaling-up successful sustainable land management practices for the control and prevention of desertification and deforestation.
Within IUCN ROWA’s portfolio to strengthen the capacity necessary for the protection of Jordan’s environment, the project will integrate an ecosystem-based approach into public-supported productive and poverty reduction activities.
The project is designed to enhance the quality of life of rural communities, consistent with development objectives to improve economic productivity of land and enhance gendered empowerment of communities affected by land degradation. It will also support sustainable land management best practices at the local level and mainstream them in local, sub-national and national planning and incentive frameworks.
