Southern African Faith Communities' Environment Institute

SAFCEI is a multi-faith NGO based in South Africa, but working throughout SADC to inspire and empower people of faith to act as responsible earth keepers, ensuring equity and justice for the whole community of life. The organization is governed by a Board of 15 Directors representing the major faiths, ie Baha'i, Buddhist, Christian (Anglican, Catholic, Congregational, Dutch Reformed, Lutheran, Methodist, Presbyterian), Hindu, and Muslim. An effort is currently being made to include representatives from African traditional religions and African independent churches. SAFCEI's prime concern is responsible earth keeping by all people of faith not as an optional extra, but as a moral and ethical imperative to protect the earth and its natural resources for future generations.
