Harold L. Lyon Arboretum, of the University of Hawaii
The Lyon Arboretum is a public garden and arboretum in Hawaii, associated with the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The arboretum is actively engaged in rare plant recovery and restoration, in preservation of plants of cultural significance, and in biocultural conservation and diversity across the Pacific. All programmes (education, science, and hortoculture) emphasize the interaction of biological and cultural diversity. The arboretum is working to establish a Center for biocultural Studies at the university and is engaged in programmes with University of Auckland, University of the South Pacific, and with Terralingua, a NGO active in biocultural affairs.
