More about the Specialist Group
IUCN SSC Western Ghats Plant Specialist Group (WGPSG) aims to bring together experts to share methods of assessments and standardized protocols, through which we will be able to conserve species and their habitats bringing recognition for their special status. Our mission is to improve the conservation status of wild plants in the Western Ghats.

The mission of the Western Ghats Plant Specialist Group is to improve current knowledge of the taxonomy and ecology of plants of the entire region of the Western Ghats and thereby enhance their conservation status in the long term. We will identify Key Biodiversity Areas in this landscape and collaborate with stakeholders to take this beyond a declaration on paper.
