The “WCEL Environmental Law Video Library” is a signature initiative providing access to the knowledge base and legal capacity of commission members, partners, and the broader environmental law and policy community. Environmental law topics selected are diverse ranging from cutting-edge concepts to well established tenets of the discipline.

The very first contribution is a lecture by distinguished WCEL Member, former WCEL Deputy Chair, and French scholar and pioneer of environmental law Michel Prieur.

It is planned to upload 19 videos in the First Lecture Series approximately every two weeks. The lecturers are a wonderful array of widely recognized members of WCEL and the Global Judicial Institute on the Environment (GJIE), including law professors, scientists, judges, legal professionals, early career leaders, public prosecutors, and representatives of international organizations. The lectures in the first phase will primarily be in English, with some in French and Spanish. In future phases, if funding is available, we will explore other possibilities for collecting and sharing the very large universe of talent, experience, and expertise in the WCEL-GJIE network through this innovative approach.

As with all WCEL initiatives, many thanks go to the major partners involved in this innovative project, including UN Environment, the Organization of American States, and especially the Catholic University of Brasilia (Universidade Católica de Brasília - UCB). The technical expertise, production facilities, and generous contribution of time from the UCB team has been critical to the successful launch of this innovative project.
