Mr Nalin Indika Munasinghe Joins IUCN Sri Lanka Country Office as its new Programme Coordinator

With effect from 10 August 2020, the Programme Development Unit of IUCN Sri Lanka Country Office is led by Mr Nalin Indika Munasinghe who assumed duty as its new Programme Coordinator.

Mr Munasinghe holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Colombo and a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Agriculture from the University of Peradeniya. He has also obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing of the United Kingdom (CIM-UK). 

Mr Munasinghe has over 20 years of experience in programme and project management. He started his career in the development sector in the year 2000 as a Project Manager-Agro Processing and Food Production at the ITDG-South Asia (in Sri Lanka) where he worked in that capacity for two years. Then he worked with FAO in Sri Lanka and the Maldives as a Programme Associate for 11 years, working closely with agencies in the UN family. He moved on to lead the four-year Sri Lanka UN-REDD Programme as the National Programme Manager and delivered the project successfully, before working as a National Consultant for the World Bank Group for two years, supporting the National Trade Facilitation Committee in liaising with private sector entities. 

Since February 2019, he has been working with Oxfam Australia (in Sri Lanka) as the Business Development Manager until he joined the IUCN family.

His knowledge and skills in multi-stakeholder approaches and his strengths in networking capabilities together with marketing aspects will be assets to IUCN Sri Lanka office, in implementing IUCN 2021-24 Programme.
