World Ranger Day 2019, 31 July

Today we celebrate World Ranger Day. We commemorate those rangers all over the world who have died in the course of their duties but also those who risk their lives every day at the forefront of conservation.

World Ranger Day recognises and celebrates the accomplishments and work done by rangers around the world, giving their lives to protect natural and cultural resources, and commemorates rangers killed or injured in the line of duty.

While some are exposed to hazardous environmental conditions such as floods, fires, illnesses or dangerous animals, others are targeted because they stand up to poachers. This year alone, at least 149 rangers were lost.

On World Ranger Day, 31 July 2019, the International Ranger Federation (IRF) and its charity arm The Thin Green Line Foundation (TTGLF) invite you again to ‘Stand With The World’s Rangers’.

Read the Letter from the IRF and TTGLF to all of us.

The Rangers Wall of Honor honors the rangers who lost their lives in the course of their duties this last year.
