Mr Sagitov had been elected Regional Councillor by the 2016 IUCN World Conservation Congress and in accordance with the IUCN Statutes and Regulations, Council invited IUCN Members from East Europe, North and Central Asia to propose names to fill the vacant position. Council then elected Ms Danilina from among the proposed candidates.

Ms Danilina will fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term, i.e. until the end of the 2020 Congress. Ms Danilina’s CV is available on the IUCN website here, along with those of all of the other members of Council.
