"We the Deputy (global) Chair and South Asia Chair of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) proudly present the first issue of the Harnessing Nature magazine to our esteemed commission members and readers at large who want to see our mother nature well protected, conserved and ever contributing to the wellbeing of the human kind." said Madhav Karki, IUCN CEM's Deputy Chair. * The newsletter building on the  highly popular Harnessing Nature blog focuses on various dimensions of nature’s contribution to people (NCP) and nature based solutions (NbS). Through this annual compendium of selected work of our learned members, we do hope to provide encouragement and appreciation to our expert authors who have contributed to our blog and wish to outreach their knowledge to help solve the environment protection and ecosystem management related problems faced by the countries and communities particularly in South Asia but throughout the world in general.

The magazine is conceived by Amartya Deb. Amartya is Commission Member with CEM and is Managing Editor of Harnessing Nature.

The magazine is currently under consideration for being published and distributed from the IUCN headquarters (Gland, Switzerland) to strengthen South Asia voices at the global level.
