Harnessing Nature magazine

1st edition of IUCN CEM's South Asia Newsletter

The first issue of Harnessing Nature Magazine is now available online. The digital magazine is an annual compendium of selected articles from the Harnessing Nature blog. Launched in June this year, Harnessing Nature has received contributions on nature based solutions, ecosystem restoration, ecosystem management and Red List of species & ecosystems. 

Articles in the first issue include :

  • Conserving Mangroves: From Species-centric to Ecosystem-Based Approach 
  • Water Management and Alternative Energy Promotion through Appropriate Technologies in Hinterlands of Uttarakhand
  • Beyond the 2020 Target of Bonn Challenge: Agroforestry for Sustainable Restoration of Croplands in India

"We the Deputy (global) Chair and South Asia Chair of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) proudly present the first issue of the Harnessing Nature magazine to our esteemed commission members and readers at large who want to see our mother nature well protected, conserved and ever contributing to the wellbeing of the human kind." said Madhav Karki, IUCN CEM's Deputy Chair. * The newsletter building on the  highly popular Harnessing Nature blog focuses on various dimensions of nature’s contribution to people (NCP) and nature based solutions (NbS). Through this annual compendium of selected work of our learned members, we do hope to provide encouragement and appreciation to our expert authors who have contributed to our blog and wish to outreach their knowledge to help solve the environment protection and ecosystem management related problems faced by the countries and communities particularly in South Asia but throughout the world in general.

The magazine is conceived by Amartya Deb. Amartya is Commission Member with CEM and is Managing Editor of Harnessing Nature.
