The UNESCO World Water Development Report 2020, styled “Water and Climate Change”, addresses the critical linkages between water and climate change in the context of the broader sustainable development agenda. It focuses on the challenges, opportunities and potential responses to climate change – in terms of adaptation, mitigation and improved resilience. The report discusses approaches to enhancing water resources management, attenuating water-related risks, and improving access to water supply and sanitation services for all in a sustainable manner. Chapter 11 of the UNESCO Report explores the multiple dimensions of governance, and legal, institutional and political means to support climate change adaptation and mitigation, to enhance resilience, and to reduce vulnerability through more inclusive water management, especially at the country level. The Report is available in many languages here.
