A new Neighbour

IUCN European Member FIBA (La Fondation Internationale du Banc d’Arguin) has recently settled into their new offices at our Conservation Center in Gland, Switzerland.

IUCN's new conservation centre

FIBA is a Swiss Foundation established in 1986 by Dr. Luc Hoffmann to provide support to the Banc d’Arguin National Park - PNBA in Mauritania, one of the largest coastal wetlands in Africa and a World Heritage Site. In addition to its programme in the Banc d’Arguin, FIBA also undertakes conservation actions to preserve coastal ecosystems, habitats and species in other West African countries, such as Senegal and Guinea Bissau, and provides strong support to the Regional Marine Protected Area Network - RAMPAO. The Board of FIBA includes representatives from PNBA, UNEP, Wetlands International, the Paris Museum and IUCN, amongst others.
