IUCN-WCEL Environment Week will be held online 31 May to 4 June

The IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) is pleased to announce WCEL-IUCN Environment Week, a 5-day webinar series exploring environmental law solutions. The webinars will focus on the environmental declarations since the Stockholm Conference, as well as the role of environmental law to address global climate change, protect forests and oceans, and support environmental law enforcement.

In celebration of World Environment Day 2021, the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) is hosting a series of webinars on environmental law solutions.

The following webinars will take place each day from Monday 31 May through Friday 4 June:

Notable speakers will include:

  • Ambassador Marie Jacobsson, Principal Legal Adviser on International Law, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs
  • Lord Robert Carnwath, Former Justice, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
  • Judge Liesbeth Lijnzaad, International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea
  • Kjell Kristian Egge, International Law Adviser of the Law of the Sea, Norwegian Foreign Ministry
  • Elizabeth Mrema, Executive Secretary, Convention on Biological Diversity
  • Angela AndradeDirector of Environmental Policy, Conservation International - ColombiaChair, IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management
  • Professor David BoydUniversity of British Columbia, UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights and the Environment 

WCEL will provide language interpretation in English, French, and Spanish.
