The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med) is organizing a Training Workshop for Ecotourism Product Development in Monte Rufeno Regional Park (Italy), from the 28th to the 30th of May. This activity is developed under the framework of the MEET project (“Mediterranean Experience of Ecotourism”), which is funded by the European Neighborhood Policy Instrument (ENPI CBC MED).
This Workshop is part of the activities that IUCN-Med has to develop as a coordinator of the MEET network. The missions of this MEET Network are to improve the cooperation between Mediterranean Protected Areas, to advocate for a sustainable management of ecotourism activities and to provide help to Members in understanding and promoting Ecotourism.
The workshop is devoted to Protected Areas managers, experts on management of the ecotourism product in Natural Parks, local NGO’s and even tourism agencies. The meeting aims to provide knowledge and information to create profitable ecotourism packages for each Pilot action within the MEET Project.
To do so, different themes for discussion have been defined, including: a better understanding of the risks and opportunities of developing ecotourism, an informing about the importance of analyzing the proposed tourism product and understanding the marketing tools, and also the enhancing of the participants’ capacity to design or improve existing ecotourism products. Finally, they will understand the role of the MEET Network in marketing and monitoring ecotourism packages.
