Climate Photo of the Week

Each week CEC member Gary Braasch posts a new photo related to climate change on his website. As an environmental photojournalist, he says "My goal is to add specific images and details of ongoing effects to so that our conversation is less and less in abstract terms."

Earth Day Climate Rally draws crowds to National Mall, even as Senate climate bill is delayed. Activists dressed as polar bear carrying the Earth, threatened by dirty coal as citizens rally around, were among the crowd at the celebrity-rich celebration...

This spring is going to be one of the most important times for us and our planet, as the United States decides how it will reduce greenhouse emissions, limit climate change and shift the way we get and use energy. While the government has been deciding a number of crucial issues and the backstage work in the Senate prepares for climate and energy legislation, I have been documenting effects of climate change and seeking support for much more repeat photography and focused reporting.

New images and reporting on rising sea levels are available now on the project website, along with the Climate Photo of the Week.

With hopes of informing where I had photographed in 1999, 2001 and 2004, I am seeking support to renew and re-photograph the body of work which resulted my book Earth Under Fire: How Global Warming is Changing the World. New images and reporting are available now on the project website

My climate photography exhibition at the American Association for the Advancement of Science has been extended through the month of April. Please use this resource during the Senate debate, Earth Day and to discuss oil drilling vs efficiency.

World View of Global Warming will also be featured as part of the Environmental Protection Agency display for Earth Day in Washington, April 24-25.'s feature about my project is the top recommended resource in Earth Day Network's Climate Solutions Campaign: -- links to
