World wetlands day in Vietnam is a call for action

On February 27, 2010, IUCN staff participated in World Wetlands Day celebrations organized by MONRE’s Vietnam Environmental Administration (VEA) in Bach Thao Park in Ha Noi. After presentations by Dr. Bui Cach Tuyen, Director General of VEA, Dr. Truong Manh Tien, Director General of the Viet Nam Environment Protection Fund, and Ms. Pham Tuan Anh, Vietnam Programme Manager, BirdLife International in Indochina, IUCN Viet Nam’s Jake Brunner gave a summary of a paper on new threats to Viet Nam’s wetlands, particularly in the Mekong Delta.
