Henrike Seidel has recently started an internship with the IUCN Oceania office under the Pacific Centre for Environmental Governance. During the next six months, Henrike will contribute to the Pacific Ocean 2020 Challenge by looking into the value and governance of the Pacific from a SIDS perspective.
She graduated with an MSc in Tropical Marine Ecology with the University of Bremen, Germany before she joined the IUCN team. For her Masters, she looked into the role of science to support community-based adaptive management of coastal resources in Fiji and worked closely with the Fiji Locally Managed Marine Area(FLMMA) network, particularly the Institute of Applied Sciences. Her fieldwork mainly dealt with the actual and potential implementation of science based management strategies in a Fijian communal setting.
