Colombo, 28 November, 2011-World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited joined hands with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Sri Lanka to contribute to sustainable development and conservation through working collaboratively and sharing information, best practice approaches and technical expertise.
The MOU will benefit both institutions by providing a context and framework for developing and maintaining cooperation in the fields of their common interests on sustainable development and conservation of nature.
The official agreement between World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited and IUCN Sri Lanka was signed by Mr Suresh Bartlett, National Director, World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited and Mr Shamen Vidanage Acting Country Representative of IUCN Sri Lanka on 28 November, 2011 at the IUCN office situated at 53, Horton Place, Colombo 7.
World Vision Lanka (Guarantee) Limited is a Christian Humanitarian Relief and Development Organisation operating in Sri Lanka engaged inter alia in Transformational, Development, Humanitarian and Emergency Relief Activities.
Commenting on this new initiative, Bartlett said “we are very enthusiastic about this partnership, given the expertise of IUCN Sri Lanka on the ground and the name it has earned in the field of environment, World Vision can embark on many other projects with IUCN Sri Lanka, as well in the future”.
The MOU will take effect as of date and continue in force until 31 December, 2012.
