From 27 to 28 February 2013, the IUCN Caucasus Cooperation Centre, in partnership with IUCN Member CENN (Caucasus Environmental NGO Network), will organize a regional workshop on ecosystem-based adaptation.
The workshop under the title “Nature-based Solutions to Climate Change: Global Best Practice and Experiences in the Caucasus Ecoregion” will take place in Tbilisi, Georgia with participants from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey and international experts. The workshop will also highlight the role of sustainable ecosystem-management in disaster risk reduction (DRR).
Participants representing governments, scientists and non-governmental organizations, IUCN Member organizations, partners and donors are invited to exchange experiences and share knowledge about international and regional best practice in this topic based on case study presentations. A panel discussion is scheduled for the second day of the workshop, providing a platform to outline specific opportunities and challenges for ecosystem-based adaptation and disaster risk reduction in the countries of the region.
This event is organized in the framework of IUCN’s current pilot project “Natural solutions to Climate Change: the Role of Protected Areas” and falls in IUCN’s global priority area on ecosystem-based solutions to global challenges.
