Volvo and UNEP run an international award for practical environmental action by young people. CEC member Wayne Talbot sends this reminder to enter today.
The deadline for entering the Volvo Adventure, run in partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, is fast approaching. Groups only have until the 31st January to register and complete their entry.
If you have an environmental project, it could be your group winning an all-expenses-paid trip to the final in Sweden in 2011 to represent their country. In addition groups that impress the judges this year will be receiving special commendations for their work and achievements even if they do not make it to the final. By entering they would also have the chance of winning a financial reward that could make it possible to run, improve or enhance their project.
We know there are many great environmental projects happening that could be representing their country at the 10th anniversary of this prestigious international award. All they have to do is register by visiting www.volvoadventure.org and enter teams from your school, youth or community for one of the two awards:
1. If you have students between 13 and 16 years old who are working in teams of 2-5 and actively involved in devising and managing the project, then they can enter the Volvo Adventure. Once registered simply download the guidelines, go to the publishing tool and enter your project on line.
2. There is also the Bob the Bunny Cartoon competition for those under 13 years of age working in teams of three. Once registered simply download the entry form and away you go. The best cartoons featuring Bob will be published on the web site and the team producing the best entries will be invited to Sweden.
