Video: how natural infrastructure can help us adapt to climate change

The WISE-UP to Climate project being implemented by IUCN's Global Water Programme shows how natural infrastructure such as river basins and wetlands can be used as as a 'nature-based solution' for climate change adaptation and sustainable development.

River basins supply water, mangroves buffer against severe storms, floodplains absorb flood waters, forests stabilise soils and wetlands clean and store water. If this natural infrastructure is healthy and well-functioning, it supports built infrastructure such as dams, reservoirs and irrigation channels to protect, store, clean and deliver water for various uses.
