Towards a better Governance of the Mediterranean

From 21 to 23 January 2010 in Istanbul, Turkey

The main point on the agenda will be the governance and conservation of deep sea features with a focus on canyons in the Mediterranean. Other points, according to the discussion in Nice in may 2009, will be on Governance of the eastern Mediterranean basin, IUU fisheries, international straits governance and others topics.

This workshop is organized jointly by IUCN Center for Mediterranean Cooperation, IUCN Global Marine Programme, the UNEP Regional Activity Center for Specially Protected Areas (RAC-SPA) and the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM), with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and the Sea, and the French Agency for Marine Protected Areas and the local support of the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV) and IUCN Commission of Environmental Law.
