The main objectives of the workshop were to assess the current situation with respect to transboundary timber trade in the countries of the FLEG Program and identify existing problems/weaknesses in terms of legislation, relevant documentation, customs procedures and capacities, which create favourable grounds for wood smuggling and other illegal activities. The expected outcomes of the workshop were specific recommendations on how to reduce the risk of illegal transboundary timber trade.
