Under the patronage of His Excellency the Mayor of Amman, the Arab Group for Protection of Nature (APN) planted trees in Marj Al Hammam for mother’s day festivities on the 21st of March 2015.
A group of APN volunteers, students, and a group of engineers and agricultural workers from the municipality participated in the event. “The event came as a part of Our Mother Amman initiative” Balqis Odwan said “and a good sign for the synergy between Green Amman Campaign and the Green Caravan Campaign.”
The Green Caravan Campaign works to support the food security in Jordan by combating the lack of green spaces and threats of desertification, overgrazing and urban sprawl in Jordan. The project also educates school students on the importance of nature and its conservation in addition to the environmental impacts of the misuse of agricultural lands.
During the event, a number of widows were awarded by the Jordanian Islamic Bank.
