IUCN World Parks Congress 2014 receives Award for Best Meeting or Conference 2015 at the Australian Events Awards ceremony in Sydney

This week, IUCN’s World Parks Congress 2014 was named Best Meeting or Conference at the Australian Events Awards ceremony hosted by CIM Magazine in Australia.

Representatives of co-hosts Parks Australia and the New South Wales Parks and Wildlife Service jointly accepted the award on behalf of the organisers.

The IUCN World Parks Congress, held in Sydney in November 2014, attracted 30 Ministers and Heads of State, participants from over 160 countries, and more than 6,000 delegates, double the forecast numbers. It also achieved the aim of placing protected and conserved areas at the heart of development challenges facing the planet, resulting in many commitments as part of the Promise of Sydney.   Representatives of Parks Australia and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service jointly accepted the award on behalf of the co-hosts, recognising the amazing achievement of delivering an award winning event.   ALSO read about IUCN and WWF's new partnership to expand and strengthen protected areas
