The draft IUCN Programme for 2017-2020 has been submitted by the Director General to all IUCN Members for a six-month consultation process.
Members are being asked to review the draft Programme and to provide input to help shape what will eventually become the framework that will help IUCN Members, Commissions and the Secretariat to achieve the Union’s vision of a just world that values and conserves nature.
The draft is the result of extensive discussions that have taken place between the IUCN Council (the principal governing body of IUCN) the IUCN Secretariat and representatives of the IUCN Commissions over recent months.
The consultation will take place online (via the Union Portal) and will also be presented in detail at the Regional Conservation Fora being held worldwide between June and December 2015.
Once the consultation closes on 20 December 2015, the revised draft will be considered and endorsed by the IUCN Council at its meeting in April 2016. The final draft of the Programme, will be sent out to all IUCN Members in May 2016 and submitted for adoption at the IUCN World Conservation Congress being held in Hawai’i from 1 to 10 September 2016.
The document is available for download and review on the Union Portal.
