The Island Communication Toolkit

Would you like to contribute ‘best practice’ examples of island-based communications campaigns to this forthcoming toolkit?

Islands are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Their ecosystems and communities will experience its impacts first and most acutely.

A new toolkit is being developed to demonstrate the valuable role communications plays in climate change adaptation and to share best practice communication strategies and campaigns relevant to islands. To help Small Island Developing States (SIDS) meet the challenges of global climate change, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity is working with PCI-Media Impact and the Global Island Partnership, with the financial support of the Government of the Netherlands, to develop this toolkit.

The Island Communication Toolkit will be a web-based tool that demonstrates how communications have been used to stimulate behavior change towards conservation of biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods in islands.

The Toolkit will consist of a communications guide to developing and implementing communications campaigns, a resource library with examples of best practices and templates for replication, and will host a community of practice that will allow practitioners and leaders to continue to share with each other.
