On November 12-13, 2007, in Lisbon, Businesses came together with governments and civil society organization in Europe to discuss how business might best fulfill their role in addressing the biodiversity conservation challenges facing the society.
The conference organized under the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union was supported by the European Commission, ICNB Portugal, and The World Conservation Union (IUCN).
Business and Biodiversity Program collaborated with IUCN Count Down 2010 Initiative and other components of the organization in holding the different workshops.
The conference, widely attended by participants from across the society, produced several useful recommendations for taking the business and biodiversity agenda forward. One of the key recommendations was to expand the business effort and support for biodiversity conservation.
