CITES enters second week of discussions

Over the past week, Parties to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) have been discussing the regulation of trade in a wide variety of species, including bluefin tuna, polar bears, tigers, rhinos, sharks and the Brazilian rosewood tree, to name just a few.

This is the 15th Conference of the Parties (CoP) to CITES. Sue Mainka, IUCN's Head of Delegation to CITES and Head of IUCN's Science and Learning, looks back at the first week of discussions and forward to what will be on the agenda for the second week of the conference in Doha, Qatar.
