Dear CEC members,

With just over two weeks to go, CEC members in all parts of the world are preparing to travel to a critical conservation event that puts nature at the heart of sustainable development: the IUCN World Conservation Congress. New videos that inspire the conservation community to send the biodiversity messages straight to the heart will be launched here, following up on the popular video Love. Not Loss. I look forward to meeting CEC members in Jeju, and to introducing you to the two outstanding candidates for CEC Chair for 2013-2016, Nancy Colleton and Juliane Zeidler.

I wish to thank each and every one of the over 1000 CEC members for your commitment to CEC and Communication, Education and Change. I especially want to acknowledge the strong support I have received from Wendy Goldstein, CEC Deputy Chair; the CEC Steering Committee; the past Chairs – Frits Hesselink and Denise Hamú; the past Deputy Chair – Ana Puyol; the Secretariat staff who have supported CEC during my tenure – Cecilia Nizzola-Tabja, Rod Abson, Wendy Price, Gillian Martin Mehers, Lizzie Crudgington and Corli Pretorius; and Susan Guthridge-Gould, the CEC newsletter editor.

I also want to give a special thanks to Julia Marton-Lefèvre, IUCN Director General, and Ashok Khosla, IUCN President, for their strong and continuing support for the Commission and realization that without effective Communication and Education we will not drive the change that we all know is necessary to create the world we envision!

I will remain an active member in the Commission’s important work in driving transformational change.

Travel safely to Jeju!

Best, Keith
