2013 Pacific Conservation Conference expected to bring in hundreds

The 9th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation and Protected Areas is anticipated to be the largest regional conservation forum - attracting more than 300 conservation practitioners working in the region.

The Pacific Islands Roundtable for Nature Conservation, a network of NGOs, donors and regional organizations working in nature conservation in the Pacific, organizes the conference every five years to set activities and strategies for the next five year period.

Planning for the conference has begun with on-going discussions between several members including Conservation International, Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, IUCN Oceania and Wildlife Conservation Society. The theme of the meeting is yet to be finalized, but the conference is expected to be held in November 2013.
