With a specific focus on the role of Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation (REDD) in climate change mitigation, the study aims to gain a stronger understanding of the consumer-based demand for International Payments for Ecosystem Services (IPES). Over 600 samples were collected during the survey (conducted in French), which was aimed at testing the level of awareness on tropical deforestation and to determine the willingness to pay (WTP) for forest conservation. Although the results are still preliminary, they show a high level of public concern for tropical deforestation.
