Descripción

Gobernabilidad significa establecer quién sabe qué, quién hace qué, quién tomas las decisiones y quién es responsable ante quién.
Se examinará la gobernabilidad de las AP en relación a la historia y los cambios globales actuales.

Enfoque de Taller

Se examinarán principios y ejemplos de tipos de gobernabilidad:

Gobernabilidad asociada a designaciones internacionales como Patrimonio Mundial;
Requerimientos para regir las AP marinas y estructuras y sistemas a gran escala de AP;
AP manejadas o gestionadas en común con comunidades indígenas y locales;
AP transfronterizas;
AP urbanas;
AP administradas por gobiernos municipales, ONGs o propietarios privados.

Este taller producirá recomendaciones específicas sobre áreas conservadas por comunidades y sobre la gobernabilidad de las categorías de gestión de la UICN.

The session will finalise discussion on the Principles of Good Governance and possibly work on a Charter on Governance to be diffused at the Congress and beyond. The final version of the WPC recommendation on principles of good governance for PAs will be discussed here.

SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP 3.4 Governance Types: a new Dimension for the classification of PAs - ROOM 3A-7
Co-chairs: Adrian PHILLIPS, and Grazia BORRINI-FEYERABEND.
The session will finalise discussion on a typology of governance for protected areas and produce the final versions of the recommendation for the recognition and legitimisation of innovative governance types, the recommendation on community conserved areas and the recommendation on co-managed protected areas.

SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP 3.5 Indigenous and Local Communities, Equity and Protected Areas - HALL 3B
Co-chairs: Aroha MEAD and Alejandro ARGUMEDO
The session will gather comments towards the final version of a volume of Guidelines on the subject to be published and distributed shortly after the WPC. The WPC recommendation on indigenous peoples and protected areas will also be discussed in this workshop.

this session will synthesize the governance stream inputs for the Durban Accord & Action Plan.

SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP 3.7 Recommendations for the CBD & strategic direction towards the World Conservation Congress of 2004. - ROOM 3A-9
Co-chairs: Jim JOHNSTON and Juan MAYR.
This session will synthesize inputs for improving PA governance as part of the Convention on Biological Diversity and the IUCN programme to be discussed at the World Conservation Congress of 2004.

SYNTHESIS WORKSHOP 3.8 Recommendation and action for mobile peoples and conservation - ROOM 3A-10
Co-chairs: Maryam NIAMIR-FULLER and Dawn CHATTY
This session will identify appropriate follow up to the action plan developed in the stream and finalise the recommendation on mobile peoples and conservation
