hope for the survival of sawfishes
says IUCN shark specialists

strong message that is being fed
into the World Parks Congress by
the IUCN Shark Specialist Group
is that marine protected areas
(MPAs) may provide the only hope

"Bienvenue" To
The Cartagena Protocol
The
Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety enters into force today, 90 days after
the ratification of Palau on June 13, 2003. To make it more user-friendly
for those involved in its implementation, the IUCN Environmental Law
Centre and FIELD are launching the French version of the Explanatory
Guide to the Biosafety Protocol, which was released in English on the

from the French, Swiss and Canadian Governments, draws on IUCN's international
expertise in environmental law to distil the meaning of the Protocol
and thus facilitate its understanding and the ongoing development of
national biosafety frameworks. (...)
