Management effectiveness has increasingly entered the lexicon of protected area managers and policy makers since the issue first came to prominence at the IVth World Parks Congress in Caracas in 1992. Management effectiveness evaluation is defined as the assessment of how well protected areas are being managed – primarily the extent to which they are protecting values and achieving goals and objectives.
