Welcome to the African Elephant Status Report 2007 (AESR 2007) page.
The AESR 2007 presents the latest information on elephant population estimates and range at the site, national, regional and continental levels.
This edition presents some important new features. New tables assist in interpreting the possible reasons why estimates have changed since the previous edition; comparisons are made for methodologically comparable estimates at the regional level; and a system for prioritizing has been developed to guide governments and funding agencies in planning future surveys.
The web version of the AESR 2007 is in portable document format (PDF), and you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 5 or later) installed in order to view it. This site uses byte-serving technology, which means that you can access the various sections of the AESR by clicking on the links below without having to wait for the entire pdf document to download, as long as you have the Acrobat Reader browser plugin installed. Once a page is displayed, you can navigate to any part of the document using the bookmarks pane in Acrobat.
If you prefer to download the entire AESR 2007 report (~20 Mb), right-click (two-button mice) or Ctrl-click (one-button mice) here and save the file to your hard disk - you will still be able to navigate the document using bookmarks as described above.
The AESR 2007 is freely accessible to everyone. If you have problems accessing the report, please contact us at the address below.
