The following figures illustrate changes since 2003. They are for species only (i.e., exclude subspecies, varieties and subpopulations). They include all Categories (Extinct through to Least Concern).

Total number of new assessments: 15,633 species (13,525 animals; 2,108 plants).

Total number of reassessments: 3,579 species (3,407 animals; 172 plants).

Combined total: 19,212 assessments/reassessments (16,932 animals; 2,280 plants) since 2003.

Total number of species uplisted (i.e., moved into a higher threat category): 352 species (311 animals; 41 plants).

Total number downlisted (i.e., moved into lower threat category): 363 taxa (328 animals; 35 plants).

Combined total: 715 species have changed category since 2003.

Total number reassessed but staying in same category: 2,864 taxa (2,768 animals; 96 plants).
