Plant Conservation Sub-committee

The Plant Conservation Sub-committee leads IUCN's efforts in stemming the loss of global plant diversity through its wide-ranging network of plant conservationists.

Overview

The IUCN/SSC Plant Conservation Sub-committee directs the work of the Plants Programme under the umbrella of the IUCN/SSC Plant Conservation Strategy. Much of the Programme's work is implemented by approximately 30 Plant Specialist Groups and the Plant Red List Authorities.

Although Fungi and Lichens are not technically “plants," that is they belong to a separate taxonomic Kingdom, their conservation is also a major concern within the Plants Programme.
